CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT MANAGER
Location – Mures County
Role: The Continuous Improvement Manager will drive a continuous improvement mindset and build capability to embed Continuous Improvement methodologies and tools across all levels of the business using a hands-on, business partnering approach. The Continuous Improvement Manager will be accountable for shaping the organization’s approach to continuous improvement through the development of a business specific Continuous Improvement framework, tools and methodologies as well as building a business intelligence solution and roadmap for the organization.
Essential Functions:
- Plan and establish sequence of operations of manufacturing products and to promote efficient utilization.
- Confers with management to establish continuous improvement goals/objectives and overall direction.
- Identify areas with other functional leaders, employees and customers to develop significant lean opportunities for improvement throughout the organization.
- Network with internal/external resources to bring best practices to lean projects and the organization.
- Develop training materials for Lean processes and principles, as well as other training materials, as necessary.
- Provide education and mentoring to employees on Lean principles and techniques.
- Facilitates and leads the continuous improvement process by identifying training needs and providing training in problem solving methodology, Kaizen, 5S, Kanban, Value Stream Mapping, etc.
- Ensure open communication throughout the organization by keeping management informed of Project status and ensuring coordination of Lean activities.
- Manage the development and maintenance of methods and systems for measuring to ensure that Project goals, objectives and metrics are being met and maintained. Engages the leadership team in setting and achieving goals utilizing Lean initiatives. This includes working with key leadership both functionally and strategically to drive overall improvements in specific areas.
- Create metrics, deployment goals, and objectives to drive accountability throughout the organization with the management team.
- Manage the planning, facilitation and completion of Lean projects to support cost reduction objectives.
- Provides input and feedback to key leadership positions about process improvement opportunities.
- Develop manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient staff and facility utilization.
- Confer with clients, vendors, staff, and management personnel regarding purchases, product and production specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status.
- Study operations sequence, material flow, functional statements, organization charts, and project information to determine worker functions and responsibilities.
- Evaluates the performance or ability of employees to understand and apply lean principles.
- Monitor activity level of continuous improvement teams and team champions; alert management of additional support needed to achieve desired results.
- Maintains current knowledge of lean performance principles and practices and keeps the organization informed.
- Organizes, plans, reviews and provides status of projects managed.
- Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material, and utilities.
- Regulate and alter workflow schedules according to established manufacturing sequences and lead times to expedite production operations.
- Direct workers engaged in product measurement, inspection, and testing activities to ensure quality control and reliability.
- Implement methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and defective or damaged parts and assess cost and responsibility.
- Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and tracking system (where needed)
- Lead the implementation of Lean programs from inception to completion and 5S initiatives plant-wide
- Partner with business leaders on implementation of process improvement (Six Sigma / Lean)
- Using ERP tool daily for monitoring and tracking systems- key user for integrated data base
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:
- Experience minimum 5 years in continuous improvement processes positions
- Consistent experience in coordinating projects – transfer or optimization, with teams involved
- Background in manufacturing companies (ex. automotive, electronics)
- Bachelor’s degree in technical or related field
- Proficiency in English
- Hands on experience with ERP systems for tracking, improvement tools (LEAN/Six Sigma)
- Demonstrated experience overcoming the inevitable problems and obstacles that surface to meet project timelines and cost initiatives
- Creativeness and desire to not to be bound by past solutions and to think outside the box to drive productivity throughout the organization
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to communicate and deal with a range of responsibilities is critical while managing multiple task
- Working knowledge of enterprise business principles and practices
- Proactivity and result oriented person.
