Psihoselect recruits for a partner company specialized in distribution for the following position: 

SENIOR BUYER  

LOCATION: BUCHAREST

 

Role: The role of the Senior Buyer is to provide efficient purchasing and procurement management of goods, material and services, within the company’s Supply Chain Management systems, in conjunction with all related departments. The Senior Buyer responsible for ensuring that the organization selects the most appropriate goods and services based on price, quality, delivery times and services support, and sustain the private label commercial strategy.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Purchase goods, and services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets;
  • Ensure continuous supply of required goods and communicate any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on business operations;
  • Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers;
  • Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs where possible;
  • Deliver briefs, updates and reports as and when required;
  • Develop creative and innovative procurement processes;
  • Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement;
  • Negotiate contracts, improved prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to build private label commercial strategy;
  • Research and evaluate suppliers, based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier’s reputation and history;
  • Confer with staff, users, and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods and determine corrective action;
  • Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and to determine need for changes;
  • Monitor shipments to ensure that goods come on time, and resolve problems related to undelivered goods;
  • Study sales records and inventory levels of current stock to develop strategic purchasing programs;
  • Review catalogs, industry periodicals, directories, trade journals, Internet sites and consulting with sales department personnel to locate necessary goods;
  • Monitor changes affecting supply and demand, tracking market conditions, price trends, or futures markets;
  • Interview vendors and visit suppliers’ plants and distribution centers to examine and learn about products, services, and prices;
  • Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships;
  • Attend meetings and update others on issues or concerns, when there is a risk which could prevent the organization on meeting customer demands or where there are over capacity concerns;
  • Support product change requests and review and communicate the impact on capacity plans;
  • Prepare purchase orders in line with final negotiations with selected suppliers and in line with organizational targets and requirements;
  • Ensure compliance to company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures and the official European Community guidance during supplier negotiations and contracts award process.

 

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:

 

  • + 5 years of experience as buyer in distribution, retail or production companies;
  • Proven track record of positive purchase performance, FMCG industry is a big plus;
  • Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements;
  • Contract management and supplier experience;
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of supply chain processes;
  • BSc degree in relevant field;
  • Knowledge of ERP tools and Microsoft Office Package;
  • Proficiency in English;
  • An ability to understand and analyze purchase performance metrics;
  • Solid result attitude with excellent negotiation skills;
  • Strong communication and team player skills;
  • Analytical skills with a problem-solving attitude;
  • Availability to travel as needed;
  • Results-oriented, strategic thinker and planner.
