Psihoselect is supporting the recruitment process for one of our partner companies, a well-established provider of technological solutions and industrial equipment for the manufacturing sector, for the following position:

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Location: MARAMURES COUNTY

 

Role: Reporting directly to the shareholder, the CEO will assume full executive responsibility for the company’s operations, commercial trajectory, and strategic development. The mission is to lead the company through its next chapter of international growth and verticalisation.

The mandate is clear: expand into new industrial verticals, open new geographic markets, and reinforce the company’s position as a complete-solution provider in custom industrial machinery.

 Strategic Mandate

  • New verticals: Lead market entry into three strategic verticals: defence, agricultural machinery, and railway industry.
  • Geographic expansion: Open and develop new geographic markets, corresponding with sales strategy, complementing the existing export footprint.
  • Solution positioning: Position the company as a one-stop provider of engineered industrial solutions, moving beyond product supply into complete-system integration.
  • Commercial scale-up: Build a scalable commercial engine capable of supporting consistent year-on-year growth while preserving operational and engineering excellence.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy & Business Development

  • Define and execute the company’s long-term strategy in alignment with the shareholder’s vision and the group’s broader objectives.
  • Develop and implement go-to-market strategies for new verticals (defence, agricultural machinery, railway) in close partnership with the sales and engineering teams.
  • Identify, qualify, and personally engage strategic international clients, leading complex B2B sales cycles typically valued above EUR 1 million and spanning 3 to 12 months.
  • Build and maintain long-term commercial relationships with key accounts across Europe, the Balkans, and other priority markets.

Operational & Financial Leadership

  • Assume full P&L accountability for a business with a turnover in the range of EUR 10–25 million, ensuring profitable growth and disciplined cost management.
  • Interpret financial reports and KPIs with confidence, translating financial insights into concrete operational and commercial actions.
  • Oversee operations, engineering, supply chain, and project execution, ensuring on-time delivery, quality, and margin performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement across the manufacturing footprint, with a focus on productivity, lean practices, and responsible use of resources.

People & Organization

  • Build, develop, and stabilize a high-performing management team, fostering accountability, autonomy, and a strong succession pipeline.
  • Promote a culture grounded in respect, ownership, initiative, and collaboration, in line with the company’s values.
  • Lead by example: act consistently, communicate openly, and maintain strategic direction and credibility across the organization.
  • Encourage effective delegation, empower teams, and avoid micromanagement.

Stakeholder & Group Relations

  • Serve as the primary interface between the local organization and the shareholder, providing transparent reporting, sound recommendations, and reliable execution.
  • Represent the company externally with clients, partners, industry bodies, and public authorities, both in Romania and internationally.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Professional Experience & Education

  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles such as CEO, COO, General Manager, or Commercial Director in a technical / industrial environment.
  • Proven track record of running or co-leading an industrial B2B business with a turnover in the range of EUR 10–15 million or above.
  • Demonstrated success in B2B industrial sales, having personally led complex, long-cycle (3–12 months) capital-equipment sales of EUR 1/2 million or more per project.
  • Hands-on experience in scaling industrial B2B businesses, including defining and executing market-entry strategies in partnership with sales teams.
  • Solid commercial background developed in industrial sectors such as machine building, industrial automation, automotive equipment, capital goods, or comparable engineered-to-order environments.
  • Experience in developing international commercial relationships and winning strategic clients in foreign markets is a strong advantage.
  • Exposure to one or more of the target verticals (defence, agricultural machinery, railway) is a strong advantage.

Technical Background & Languages

  • Strong technical literacy in mechanical engineering, industrial automation, and / or welding and assembly technologies; able to engage credibly with technical customers.
  • A formal engineering degree is preferred, ideally combined with business education; however, candidates with an equivalent track record of results in a similar technical environment will be considered.
  • English: full professional proficiency – mandatory.
  • German and / or French: a significant advantage, given the international client base and group context.
  • Romanian: required for effective leadership of the local organization.
